🔎 Spotlight — this week by both of us

Helene’s path of destruction via NY Times

As all of you know, our home state, North Carolina, was ravaged by Hurricane Helene last week. The devastation is widespread and horrific and we want to make sure that people all throughout North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and the entire Appalachian region are getting the resources they desperately need right now. 

We’re providing some verified resources below to donate to or utilize for help. We’re sending love to anyone affected by this tragedy!

Here’s a helpful compilation of multiple resources.
A Helene Disaster Relief Station in Iron Station, NC is accepting the following donations:

- sports drinks (powdered packets)
- hydration packs (powder form)
- baby wipes
- baby formula
- diapers (children AND adults)
- bug spray
- sunscreen
- plastic utensils
- manual can openers
- trash bags (13 gallon or bigger)
- non-perishable foods
- cleaning supplies
- plastic sheeting/tarps
- toothbrushes and toiletries, toothpaste
- feminine hygiene supplies
- pet food (dog and cat)
- sanitizer
- socks all sized (unopened)
- new clothes only

If you are out of state and wish to ship needed items, we now have a a local trusted volunteer to deliver these items directly to us.

Off-the-Grid Missions (OTG) is a Deaf-focused Disaster Response organization that operates nationwide. They ensure essential aid reaches the Deaf and Hard-of-hearing Community. So if you or someone you know has essential needs such as food relief, debris clean-up/removal, water, tarps, breast milk, etc., you can request assistance at www.offthegridmissions.org.
