🔎 Spotlight — this week by Ashley
Occasionally, y’all will send me gofundmes and it hurts my heart not to be able to share every single one because they are all so deserving of funds! Jenn, a member of this community sent one in recently for her sister and it really struck a nerve with me and reminded me of what it is to be thankful for my health and vision - I’m sharing it here in hopes that if you do want to help take care of this sweet family, any little bit will make a huge difference.
“My sister Colleen started losing her eye sight last summer. They haven’t been able to figure out why but she has optic neuropathy, so it won’t heal itself. She’s now been declared legally blind, can not drive any longer. She has 3 kids. My 14 year old nephew Asher, 11 year old niece Quinn and 6 year old nephew Ben. She also left her fiancé after an 8 year emotional, verbal and a few times physically abusive relationship in July. Thank God cuz he was a piece of shit. Anyway, she’s having to adjust to life as such and has been on short term disability but they are giving her a hard time about long term because they say it was a pre-existing condition.
Our Mom had been helping with rent etc but she can only afford so much and with holidays coming up. She’s turning 40 on dec 31 and yeah, it’s just been an awful year. So our other sister and one of Colleen’s best friends started a go fund me. This is the link and again, I totally understand if you can’t share it. Just trying to help her best I can. I donated the first day and just want to be able to do more.”
Kitty and I will both be donating so if you want to join us - click here.
